Terms and acceptable use

Last updated 23 October 2026. These terms cover your use of ScreenShy at screenshy.com. By making an account you agree to them.

Who we are

ScreenShy is run by Ian McAteer, (not set yet). Email hello@screenshy.com about anything here, including refunds and complaints.

What ScreenShy does

You write a topic or a script; ScreenShy uses AI models to write scenes, make pictures, animate them, read the words aloud and add captions, and gives you a video file. The models are run for us by fal.ai and the model makers it hosts. Results vary: AI can get things wrong, and two people asking for similar things may get similar results.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or over. One account per person. Keep your sign-in link to yourself; you are responsible for what is made in your account.

What you must not make

You must not use ScreenShy to make, or try to make:

We, and the model providers, may refuse a request that looks like any of these. We may remove content, suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and report illegal content to the authorities.

Your videos

As between you and us, the scripts you write and the videos you make are yours to use, including commercially and for clients. We give no promise that a video is unique or that it does not resemble something else, and you are responsible for checking a video before you publish it.

Videos are made with AI. Where a platform or the law asks you to say so (for example Instagram's AI label for realistic content), label them. Your downloaded file says it was AI-generated in its metadata; do not remove that to mislead anyone. Free videos carry a small "Made with ScreenShy" mark.

We keep drafts and videos for 30 days so you can download them, then delete them. Download anything you want to keep.

Credits, payment and refunds

Credits are sold in one-off packs; there is no subscription. Prices are in Australian dollars and include tax; checkout may show your own currency. Payments are taken by Stripe and sold through Link, Stripe's merchant of record, whose terms apply to the payment and which collects any GST, VAT or sales tax. Credits do not expire while your account is open.

When you buy a pack you ask us to start supplying the service straight away. Once you have used credits from a pack, we do not refund it just because you changed your mind.

Your consumer rights

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that they will be supplied with due care and skill and be fit for the purpose we describe. For a major failure with the service you are entitled to cancel and get a refund for the unused portion, or compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If a failure is not major, you are entitled to have it fixed in a reasonable time, and if it is not, to cancel and get a refund for the unused portion. Nothing in these terms takes away those rights, or any rights the law gives you where you live.

The service

We try to keep ScreenShy working, but it relies on outside providers and can be slow or unavailable. We may improve or change features. If we close the service we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund the unused credits on your account.

Our liability

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and any similar law where you live, are not limited by anything here. Beyond those rights, neither of us is responsible to the other for losses the other could not reasonably have expected when you bought credits. We cannot control how social platforms treat the videos you post, such as their reach or any action they take on your account.

Changes and law

If we update these terms, we will show the date at the top and email you at least 14 days before a change that matters takes effect. A change never takes away credits you have already bought, and if you do not agree to it you can close your account and have your unused credits refunded. These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia; if you are a consumer elsewhere you keep the protections of the law where you live, and can bring a claim in your local courts.
